Zersetzung | a poem

suicide doesn’t let you off the hook

suicide is an open door

that mourners stare down

a room behind it

I had never known

suicide is a truth that doesn’t fit

until it has to

and what comes out of that door

into the four walls we’re in

empties the room

hold still

it lets itself in

will I see my brother in the morgue

will that be my brother in the morgue

you can have that

we left the morgue in my brother’s company

death stays

suicide stays

life stays
