Daughterprey | A Poem

deeply within

I never questioned

your reasons for

tormenting me

because you taught me that I

myself was the reason

because I was

because I am

*

you observed my face

and thought no

*

our home

was your backstage area

where all the masks fell off

and nobody would ever believe what we saw

*

when you were begging at my door

for forgiveness

whilst you were still posing a threat

I’d have done anything to make you disappear

*

from you

I learned that

my body was robbed of its boundaries

*

figlia di papà,

figlia di papà,

figlia di papà,

you make me sick

*

you created us

to destroy yourself

*

you made sure that

your grave

was big enough for all of us
