silenzio | a poem

I grew cold in a state of fear

*

my head under my blanket

I wish I didn’t know you so well

*

I’ve known the man behind my father

and you’ve fallen for the actor

the director behind the man

*

she carries his face

she did something to her face

he said to him

she’ll remind you of me forever

there I am on her face

that you cannot undo

*

he paid with his life to avoid his death

paid and paid for a ghost

*

that would dissolve her features

his features

abandon his image

deny his image

living lie after lie

emptying more than just his pockets
