Wolkenkratzer | a poem

grief only inflicts the pain that is already there

*

I’ve only known you the way I’ve known you

death added its layers to you

*

you speak to me as if you’re still alive

I almost forget that you’re buried under a tree

*

I’m not interested in ashes

I’m after everything incombustible

*

invisibility makes itself known

it tells me that it belongs to me

I know when you are in the same room with me

*

the air gets a new physicality

we’re looking at each other

and the only thing I know

is that you are still you
