Todesnähe | a poem

weight on my bed

I don’t know whether it is just me

or you, invisible

could I make you visible if I wanted to

*

I know you’re here

is it because I’m afraid to see you

that I can’t see you

*

do you sit on our mother’s bed

do you visit your own

you don’t need to be scared

is your head hanging from your mattress

watching our world upside down

hanging by a thread

*

what was going on inside of you

something appeared out of nowhere

and it feels like you

*

but whatever you may have touched

all she senses is your absence

and she can’t see you

because all she does is see you
