Holier Bodies: A Poem

It happened. It happened. It happened.

It happens when my eyes close

When I manage to fall asleep

Straight amidst the shadows

My brain tells itself

It happened, it happened, it happened.

And I am sure once my fears are not active

(Because I told you not to come at night)

You come to me and tell my brain

It’s okay, it’s okay, I’m okay.

I let it sink into me what you did

I feel the consequences

I know that you chose

I know you were free

And that allows me to breathe

The peace you made with it all

A notion that I could never have understood

Had it not rammed its spear into my heart at first

And I, despite the anguish and sorrow,

Discovered that with the arrow you

Sent the cure.
